Should my resume be written reverse chronological, functional or Hybrid?
Reverse Chronological Order
One of the mostly used resume format is reverse chronologically order resume. It really helps the recruiter to screen your resume quickly and shortly for interview quickly. In this format, you should show your work experience in reverse chorological order by providing your current work experience in top of the list. Then list down the previous work experience below in reverse order. The candidate can use this format, if you don’t have any career gaps or candidates willing to change their career to different domain.
We would recommend you to include Objective, Summary, Experience, Education and Reference in this format.
Functional Resume
The functional resume is used when you want to draw attention away from your work experience due to career long gaps and career transition etc. In this resume, you can focus attention on achievements and core competences. This format will be suitable for fresh graduates, candidate looking for career change and anyone with career gaps. In terms of experience, you can show transferrable skills in your resume, which is required for new industry or for new job. You can include Objective, Accomplishments, Capabilities, Employment History, Education, References
Hybrid Format
The hybrid format is a combination of reverse chronological order and functional resume. In this format, you can show your current experience and also add the relevant knowledge and skills which you have gained to change the career to the new domain or industry. The best example would be a person willing transition from non-technical job to a technical software development work. In this format you can include objectives, summary, accomplishments, experience, education and reference.
